The Story begins here:On a winter day, a baby was found on the doorstep of a small orphanage, Pony's Home, near Lake Michigan. Her name was Candy. Candy and her best friend, Annie, both dreamed to have their own father and mother someday.
Annie's wish came true when a wealthy couple adopted her but Annie's new parents ordered her to stop writing letters to Candy and forget about her past. They would not want to let other people know that Annie is only an adopted daughter. As Candy was so sad and cried, she met her Prince of the Hill.
Candy was being adopted by the Leagan family at the age of 12, to be a companion of their daughter, Eliza, and later ends up as a maid. The children, Eliza and Neal, often torture her. Mrs Leagan does not like her. Mr Leagan is kinder to her but he was always away for business.
